Year 6 have selected their locations, planned their habitats and researched the living things they want to attract. Today we visited our local woodland to collect natural resources and began laying out the areas. Building begins next week.

The flowers we identified were – Black Knapweed, Common Cat’s Ear, Cleavers, Lady’s Bedstraw, Red Dead-nettle, Yellow Rattle, Germander Speedwell, Red Clover, Bird’s-Foot Trefoil, Common Sorrel, Cow Parsley, Ragged Robin, Oxeye Daisy and Devil’s Bit Scabious.
We were amazed at how many we found.
We are making insect books. I am making one about butterflies. We see butterflies down the Wiggly Path I have seen a peacock butterfly.
Year 2 are learning all bout the lifecycle and habitats of different butterflies we have along the Wiggly Path.
This week they sewed their own Meadow Blue Butterflies and learned all about the Gatekeeper, which the children also spotted sunning itself!
